Whitney Boateng

Promoter, Metropolis Music

I started off working under Zeon Richards for his management company Renowned Group who at the time managed Wretch 32, George The Poet, Jacob Banks, Knox Brown, and songwriter Jada. At Renowned I assisted Zeon with day-to-day management of artists which included responsibilities varying from diary management to single campaigns. I enjoyed management but also found it extremely demanding and always hoped that I would hopefully get to explore another dimension of music.

After 3 years at Renowned I started working at live music agent Coda. At Coda I assisted Mike Malak who is an agent for some of the biggest acts such as Jess Glynne, Pusha T, Tyga, and more! Whilst being here my love for live music developed and I also learnt some of the importance of how much work and effort goes in to live shows. From the precision of the set times and riders to the production. It taught me how to liaise with management promoters and artists in a different way as previously I had sat on the other side of the table. After a year at Coda I realised that it was quite heavily admin based being an agent and not creative enough. I was lucky enough to have a conversation with a gentleman called Kiarn which led to me to my next job at Metropolis promoting shows – again I ended up sitting on the opposite side of the table.

Whilst being at Metropolis I have curated my own live shows including a night hosted by NAO called Little Tokyo. An intimate show with an act called Mac Ayers from the states. Big Shaq and friends. Ms Banks, P Montana. An event with Linkup TV & Foot Asylum which had the likes of Sneakbo, & Maleek Berry performing.
