Naomi Gillies is an intern for the UK Talent and Music team at MTV. Her role involves supporting the team on anything to do with talent – whether it be for MTV’s music shows e.g. MTV Asks, Hosted countdowns etc., right through to booking editorial pieces and social takeovers. Naomi also supports the team on the music video acquisition process, which, in short, is the process of getting music videos from record labels onto MTV music channels.
She’d always wanted to work in music/media but found it difficult to break into this competitive industry. During her sixth form period and at university she volunteered to get any form of experience she could. Whether it be writing music blogs for her student radio or volunteering at her local radio station. This gave her the confidence to apply for the internship scheme at Viacom – an invaluable experience that has given her insight into working for a top media company.
